Urbanathlon On My Mind

{The Wall}

{Hurdles}

{Tire Dump}
.
When your mind starts to wander and your work desk starts to look like an urban playground, I'm thinking a few kilometers of running around is a good way to release that pent up energy. And mind you, not just ordinary running, but the much-anticipated, ultra challenging Men's Health Urbanathlon.
.
I was invited for a preview of things to come during the blogger's launch (carboloading at Italianni's) of the Urbanathlon 2010. And this year's race promises a tougher course. For the weekend warriors in need of a new scene, the Urbanathlon is out to prove why it's one of the annual races sport aficionados watch out for.
.
Aside from the usual suspects, there are new obstacles to "secret train" for:
  • The Wall (An oldie but 8-ft goodie.)
  • Low Crawl (Time to get down and dirrrrty!)
  • Hurdles (Careful. Slippery when wet.)
  • Scaffolding Maze (In lieu of last year's "weaving" obstacle.)
  • Tire Dump (Weave through 200 tires stacked on top of each other.)
  • Balance Beam (Supposedly new, but I remember channeling my very, very little ballet balancing skills on a similar obstacle during the 1st Urbanathlon back in 2007. Doubly challenging when you're wearing mud for shoes.)
    .

P.S. Oh, and I won't miss the Vertical Sky Run obstacle (stairs) AT ALL! ;)

The Urbanathlon will be held on November 7, 2010, Sunday, 5:00 A.M. at Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig City. The registration fee for the race is P500 (for both 5K and 10K distances) and includes a race shirt, drink stubs from Gatorade, food stubs from Century Tuna, and an issue of Men's Health magazine.

Registration is at 360 Fitness Club, Summit Media office, R.O.X. Store.

Deutsch Phenomena (Klima Fun Run 2010)

This weekend has surprisingly been of all things Deutsch...
  • QT with my dog. Imp, is a Dachshund, of German origin and literally means "badger dog", from Dachs ("badger") and Hund ("dog").
  • 5 minutes with a blank wall and a bright orange Jägermeister football is a sure cure for stress.
  • Snagged a free 10K race kit for the Klima Fun Run 2010 in celebration of Mabuhay Germany 2010.
  • German sausages (plus cheeses and chocolates) dinner to cap off a terrific Saturday.
Enjoy the rest of Sunday, everyone. Schönen Tag noch! =)

Klima Fun Run 2010 (October 9, 2010)

I HAVE A FREE 10K RACE KIT 4 TOM. U WANT?

With today's race registration prices... Hell, yeah! What a silly question, my friend.

I was running the 10K category, but got to Bonifacio High Street a few minutes late because of a vehicular accident that clogged EDSA. The 10K and 5K runners already had a good head start, and as I ran down the route with the 3K runners, I had to tell myself to slow down before I injure myself by either pulling a muscle OR stabbing myself with a safety pin.

Running along the familiar streets of Fort Bonifacio on a beautiful Saturday morning was fantastic. Dang, I missed running.

And you know what else I missed? Probably a turn. Because just under an hour of leisurely running and 1 water break, I found myself crossing the finish line already. Hmm... the route probably could have used more race markers or marshals, but hey, beggars can't be choosers. Besides, 45 minutes running is still 45 minutes of calories burned.

The Klima Fun Run on October 9, 2010 at Mabuhay Germany 2010, was a joint activity of the Federation of Alumni Groups of Former Scholars to Germany and spearheaded by Carl Duisberg Association of the Philippines (CDAP) in cooperation with the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI) for the benefit of Maharlika Madrasah.

When you can't run it off...

Sometimes it just feels so good to hit something.

Affogatto Snap Out of This Happy State

It doesn't take much to enter a state of bliss. Sometimes bliss comes packaged in a run, sometimes it comes packed in the simplest form, like a single coffee bean.

When stress levels go over the roof, it's the little things in life that keep me sane.

{This is me, bribing supermodel Phoebe with a super surprise treat if she behaves on the shoot.}

{Good girl, Phoebe! Now let's go reward ourselves with ice cream.}

The Ingredients to a Happy State:
1. A productive day
2. (Wo)man's best friend
3. A cup of good, strong coffee
4. A scoop (or two!) of Häagen-Dazs Caramel Biscuit and Cream

{Down to the last creamy dollop.}

{Welcome to my view.}
{Don't you just wish this screen is a Scratch & Sniff?}

{And this is how you do bliss.}

{Do not disturb. Slow melting in progress.}
{Mmmm...}

An affogatto (Italian, "drowned") is a coffee-based beverage or dessert. It usually takes the form of a scoop of vanilla gelato or ice cream topped with a shot of hot espresso.

Spam, Begone!

My account has been invaded by spam comments! Annoying. Yet another reason to go vegan... Can anyone give me tips on how to get rid of those comments? I think I'll call them spamments. Or do I really get fan mail from China land? ;) -that's chinky-eyed emoticon for you.
